THOUGHTS ON THE FUTURE: specifically for the 12 teenagers in the IMECT’s current 6th grade… what next? I’m thinking of whether we could donate any scholarship funds we can raise to them, by paying their tuition and books for 7th grade? Or at least for the 4 top students? There are eight girls in the class, which is unusual – and a credit to Yollande’s approach to keeping girls in school, and to their own good sense.

Today is the day – Haiti’s runoff election between Martelly and Manigat, against a backdrop of returned ex-presidents, world-wide depression, inquietude in North Africa and the Middle East, tragedy in Japan… work goes on!
