The 100% For Haiti Art Sale in May 2010 was such a success… sales of art and personal contributions enabled us to raise almost $22,000. And with the generosity of local businesses and friends we had no expenses to cover!

Organisations we helped:

Haiti Community Support: On the 6 month anniversary of the world’s most devastating earthquake, Haiti Community Support opened the doors of the new HCS Port au Prince Community Health Center. What began as the HCS Mobile Clinic operating under a tree in a park on the outskirts of PaP, developed into a full-time free clinic. Recently HCS closed the clinic (Feb 2011) and transferred their resources back to their home village in the far West of Haiti.

International Childcare: The badly earthquake damaged Grace Children’s Hospital and other facilities run by ICC were up and running since the end of January under enormously difficult conditions, with patients and staff camping in the courtyards and gardens, doctors operating in tents, rubble removal and reconstruction all around them. The costs of rebuilding while running full programs in the infant nutrition program, eye hospital, mobile vaccination clinics, sanitation works and outreach in all parts of Haiti has been enormous and we were able to contribute to this.

Fonkoze Microfinancing: Fonkoze has been able to implement amazing new and enlarged programs since January 12th, thanks to a wide support network we are part of! This helps restore the economy from the bottom up, direct to the people who need help the most and who will most benefit.

Work with COSADH and REFUGEE CAMPS: response to an email bulletin led to us collecting the money needed to provide clean water for the small and desperate Bois Pins Refugee Camp, near Lascahobas. We provided milk and food to overcome malnutrition in the children and the elderly and sick adults, plus school and school-lunch fees for the school-age children, rent of a house and space for tents for the 46 people, and medical care for 3 months. When this temporary  Camp dispersed at the end of July the head of each family, (approx. 20 adults) received some cash to restart their lives, by means of a microbusiness according to their skills on returning to their area of origin, plus being able to pay a few months rent, or buy seeds and/or tools.

Donations from artists, private persons and businesses are fully tax deductible thanks to our sponsorship by St Croix Foundation.
